With its fiery red blooms, Ocotillo’s architecture shows us the fire deep within ourselves that tends to react rather than respond when it’s been left unexpressed for too long. The height at which it stands (up to 33 feet high) and the thorns on it's shaft, help to ground and protect. Ocotillo reminds us to embrace the fire within and to use it in an intelligent way so to not burn ourselves out. The fire is necessary as an element, but when it gets out of control, it is hard to tame. Therefore Ocotillo allows you to respond rather than react to your emotions. On the contrary, if we repress the anger, we tend to be melancholy and Ocotillo helps ignite the fire within. It harmonizes the heart and is a great protector of our boundaries. It is the mover of our emotions, especially when things feel stagnant. This essence is great for the wounded healer.

    Flower essences can be taken orally or topically. As long as they enter the physical body, you are receiving the medicine. Here are some suggestions on how to administer them:


    • Directly into mouth
    • In water or tea
    • In your bath
    • Anywhere on your physical body such as pulse points or third eye

    Suggested use:  Four drops four times a day for one month. As needed based on your intuition after initial period. Generally, for deeper issues such as trauma, 1-3 months worth is necessary. For daily issues like stress or boosting creativity, you can take as needed.

    Combining essences is an option if you feel called to do so

    Minimize coffee/alcohol use for more noticeable/desirable effects
